So, like the poll says; are Discounted Traits a good thing? For the uninitiated, every Archetypes in QfC has a list of Discounted Traits. These traits are available to anyone, but at character creation, they cost less for a character whose Archetype lists them, by 5 points. The idea is, these are traits which are natural for the archetype, and taking them when you aren't part of that archetype is essentially like multi-classing in dnd. That being said, after character creation, it doesn't matter. You pay the same cost regardless. Pros: - Niche protection. Acrobats have more Acrobat friendly traits than Hunters, and vise versa.
- Maintains choices and customization, when compared to making those traits automatic, as in a classic class based game.
Cons: - Different point costs for a trait can be confusing for noobs
- Discounts end up meaning the "pure" Acrobat is more powerful than the Acrobat with some Warlock traits, because they simply have more traits. probably by somewhere between 15 and 30 points worth. That...is a big jump. Disadvantages already do this a bit.
- It splits choosing traits into two steps, along with creating a "3.5 dnd cross class skill training" math situation, where stuff costs different amounts at different times, and thus makes starting above level 1 weird. You'd basically have to build the character, and then level them up, rather than just making a level 3 character.
So, those are my thoughts. Now I'd like other peoples' thoughts!

Well, so much for that.
